Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called to attend a house fire at a property in Dalrymple Street, Girvan at 7.32am this morning (26 November 2016).

The fire in a single-storey, mid-terrace house was well alight on arrival.

Crews in breathing apparatus entered the burning property and managed to rescue two people from the house.

Both were suffering from severe smoke inhalation and they were taken into the care of paramedics before being taken to hospital for treatment.

Appliances from Maybole, Girvan, Colmonell and the aerial rescue platform from Ayr are at the scene.

SFRS will be working with Police Scotland to determine the circumstances.
