Pay and Grading Structures:

Support Staff

The pay and conditions for employees who work within the fire service are negotiated by the National Joint Councils (NJC), which are voluntary organisations covering England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland where agreements are reached through 'collective bargaining'.

SFRS do not currently have a single Pay & Grading Structure therefore the most current Pay Grades and Pay scales from the eight antecedent services have been provided.

Central Pay Grades Payscales
Dumfries and Galloway Pay Grades Payscales
Fife Pay Grades Payscales
Grampian Pay Grades Payscales
Highlands and Islands Pay Grades Payscales
Lothian and Borders Pay Grades Payscales
Strathclyde Pay Grades Payscales
Tayside Pay Grades Payscales

Operational Staff

The salary of senior uniformed employees is set by the National Joint Council for Brigade Managers.  Further details are within our Annual Report and Statement of Accounts 2013-14

Operational staff are on the “Grey Book” Conditions of service.  Further details are within the NJC Pay Settlement 2015.
